Nokia Lumia series is trying to come up with phones which will cater to the needs of all types of audiences. Right from the budget phones to premium phones, the Lumia brand encompasses a variety of handsets. By launching the Lumia 520, it tried to make space for itself in the budget phone category. The Nokia Lumia 520 is an affordable handset running Windows Phone 8. We also saw the addition of a microSD card slot. There's a 5 megapixel autofocus camera at the back, that unfortunately doesn't have an LED flash. There's no front-facing videocall camera; that's a feature available in a version above — the Lumia 620. It comes with a 1420 mAh battery.
This handset received a small update in the form of the Nokia Lumia 525, partially thanks to its popularity of being the best Lumia phone to be sold till date. It’s powered by the same Windows Phone 8 and runs a 1GHz Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The Nokia Lumia 520, which shipped with only 512MB RAM, resulted in some of the apps being incompatible with the phone. This problem has been fixed as Nokia Lumia 525 offers 1GB RAM, making some high-end apps to function on this phone. Internal memory of 8GB can be expanded up to 64GB by using a microSD card. It has a 4 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 800x480 pixel resolution. In the camera department, it has 5MP rear facing camera with auto focus feature. Nokia has provided a Radio in Lumia 525. It has the same 1430 mAh battery.
We can say that Nokia hasn’t really changed this phone from it’s predecessor; the Lumia 520, here's a quick comparison. The major disappointment is that it still lacks a front facing camera and LED flash which are available in other brands in the same price range. The main update which we can see is in it’s RAM space which got doubled up to 1GB. Looking at pure specifications, the Lumia 500 series needs to pull its socks up as its competitors in this price range have a lot to offer which it still lacks.
